Janet grew up in Springfield, OH and was a professional dancer in her teen years traveling throughout the Midwest, dancing in theaters during the Great Depression. While working as a bookkeeper in her father’s CPA firm, she met her husband Woody and they married in 1945. In 1962, they relocated from Springfield to Trenton, MI where she lived for 51 years. After Woody died in 1982, she became a charter member of the Horizons Senior Club in Trenton and became a very active member of Faith United Methodist Church. She loved to travel and traveled all over the world with her close friends from church and the seniors club. In 2014 at age 95 she moved to Assisted Living at Independence Village where she loved to play bingo and participate in the many activities that were planned by the staff.
Faith United Methodist Church in Trenton, MI was her “church family” for over 50 years where she was also involved with Church Women United and United Methodist Women. At different times she became the president of both organization’s regional branches. She often said that “a person needed to have a purpose” and hers was Faith UMC.
She enjoyed dancing, playing the piano, puzzles, bookkeeping, boating, and traveling, but mostly she enjoyed being with family and friends, which got her involved in countless activities… arts, crafts, golfing, bowling, traveling, etc.
No formal funeral service will be held. Interment will be at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, MI on Saturday, March 20, 2021.
