Jean Elizabeth Jarvis, age 94, of White Lake, formerly of Birmingham, Bloomfield, and Gaylord, died Sunday, June 6, 2021, at her home. Left to cherish her memory are her two children: Karen Smith, and William (Sandy) Jarvis; her two grandchildren: Lowery (Jennifer) Day, and Stefanie Jarvis; her three great-grandchildren: Waverly Jarvis, Brendan Day, and Austin Day; and her two brothers: James McClure, and Donald (Marie) McClure.
One of eight children, Jean was born June 2, 1927 in Troy, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Earl and Fay (Bisdorf) McClure. At age 16 she met Leo Jarvis, and the two started dating, fell in love, and were married on February 16, 1946. They shared 70 wonderful years together until Leo’s passing on February 17, 2016. During her life she worked as a store bookkeeper and later as a dental receptionist at a dentist office in Birmingham, where she was a valued team member for ten years until her retirement. She was an active member of the congregation at the United Methodist Church of Birmingham, where she sang in the choir for over forty years, and at the Gaylord Evangelical Free Church up north. In her free time, Jean could be found gardening, going for a swim, chatting with neighbors, taking a walk, or playing a round of golf with her loving husband, Leo. Most of all, Jean loved getting together with her loving family and friends. She was a wonderful woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Fay; and her husband, Leo Jarvis; and her five siblings: Robert, Charles, Dorothy, Raymond, and Shirley.
In accordance with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at the Oak Pointe Church, 1250 S. Hill Road, Milford, Michigan 48381. Jean's family will receive friends from 10:30 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held at the church at 12:00 pm.
