Bob was born April 15, 1951, in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Arthur and Mildred Barnett. He graduated from Pontiac Central High School and continued his education at Eastern Michigan University, where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Bob married Diane (James) Barnett on August 11, 1973.
Bob worked for General Motors for over thirty years. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, biking, golfing, and cooking meals for his family and friends. Bob was involved with many charitable organizations, and was a leader in a Christmas Drive for our troops. His family has fond memories of holiday gatherings hosted by Bob and Diane; especially their summer cookouts featuring Uncle Bob’s famous spare ribs!
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his loving wife, Diane; his daughter, Lynn (fiancé Michael Zadnik); his brother, Tom; his sisters: Marilyn (Joseph) Petersmark and Nancy (Gregory) Cole; many loving nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion, Nikki.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred Barnett.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider making memorial contributions in Bob’s memory to the Humane Society, the Leader Dogs for the Blind, or the ASPCA.
