Born on October 30, 1942, in Detroit to Oscar and Mary Harhold. Virginia lived a life centered around caring for others, laughter, and deep family connection. Her career as a social worker was dedicated to helping those in need, and she found joy in traveling with family and embracing life’s meaningful moments.
Virginia was known for her quick wit, humor, and warm, caring heart. She enjoyed going to craft shows, playing bingo, and most of all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren—her “butterflies,” as she lovingly called them, and who knew her as “Gramma in Pajammas”: Alyssa, Kayla (Kreg), Jacquelyn, and Izabella. She also had a love for Polish food, especially pierogis.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Christine and John; her grandchildren Alyssa, Kayla (Kreg), Jacquelyn, and Izabella; her sister Joan (Bob); and her nieces and nephews Linda, Lorrie (Randy), Ron, and Kara.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Mary, her sister Marion (Steve), her brother Richard, and her nieces Barbara (Mark) and Cynthia.
Virginia’s love will continue to live on through her family, who will carry her warmth, humor, and spirit with them always.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
