Aldine Mae Coulter Johnson-Overstake, , 87, entered eternal life on December 29, 2013. Aldine was born on August 16, 1926, in Denver, Colorado. From her work ethic to her love of music, her hospitality to her zeal for life, Aldine imparted many things to her family and friends. At an early age she and her sisters learned a strong work ethic as they sold homemade neckties for a nickel to help support their family during the Great Depression. She owned and operated Johnson’s Garden Center with her first husband and her sons. She also dedicated many of her years to Graham-Michaelis Corporation. As a child, Aldine also discovered her love of music with the help of a $7 ukulele her mother purchased for her at a local pawnshop. Aldine loved hosting friends and family at her home. It seemed that there was always a fresh loaf baking in her bread machine or a chocolate cake in the oven. Her percolator was always ready to brew coffee for the next visitor to walk through the door. Kindness and generosity came naturally to Aldine; she always went above and beyond to care for the wellbeing of those around her. Aldine also had a love for adventure. While her heart and home remained in Wichita, she loved traveling with her second husband, Edgar Allen, to spend time with friends at their cabin on Piatt Lake in Michigan and their condo in Clearwater, FL. Aldine was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold E. Johnson, her twin sister Darline and her parents, Glenna and Clifford Coulter. Her spirit lives on with husband Edgar Allen Overstake, sister Barbara Jean Norton, daughter Jozelle Wallace and husband Quentin, son Marty Johnson, daughter-in-law Nancy Johnson, son Wes Johnson, son Linden Johnson and wife Angie, daughter Janette Slusher and husband Jay, as well as 11 grandchildren Jeremy, Kristen, Brynn, Kara, Laura, Ryan, Emily, Hana, Morgan, Bailey and Taylor as well as four great-grandchildren. Private burial will take place. Memorials have been established at the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 1148 S. Hillside, Suite 11, Wichita, KS, 67211, as well as The Salvation Army, 350 N. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202.
