Bobby (Robert) Shellenberger

Bobby (Robert) Shellenberger, 69, of Wichita, KS passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at his home in Park City, KS. Bobby was born April 24, 1951 in Wichita, KS, and lived there his entire life. He grew up working with his father in the home building construction industry. He started his own company and worked with his son Paul side by side for 25 years building and remodeling homes. Bobby married Janella, whom he always said was his forever best friend, in 1976, and just recently celebrated 45 years of marriage on April 9. Spending time with his children and grandchildren were absolutely vital and always important to him. Family vacations, ski trips, golf with friends were activities he enjoyed. His most memorable trip was a 2011 journey to Israel with his son Paul.

At Wichita First Nazarene he taught Sunday School in the youth group, the children’s department, and for the last 25 years as the teacher of the Cornerstone Class known as his “Peeps”. All who knew him experienced the great Shellenberger sense of humor. Bobby was a faithful, loyal friend desiring that all he met would come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. During the past couple of years his battle with some medical issues showed his positive outlook on life and the peace he felt that was rooted in the eternal hope of knowing God.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law; Jeff Uphaus. Survivors include his wife of 45 years; Janella Shellenberger, children; Paul (Beth) Shellenberger, Nichole (David) Clubb, grandchildren; Andrew Shellenberger, Abigail Shellenberger, siblings; Teresa (Stan) Snell, Becky Shellenberger, Jon (Cheryl) Shellenberger, Michelle (Bob Conoley) Shellenberger, Dalene Uphaus and many extended family. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Hillside Funeral Home, 2929 W. 13th St. N., Wichita. Funeral service will be 1pm on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at First Church Of The Nazarene, 1400 E. Kellogg Dr., Wichita, KS 67211.
