Luis began his life on a hot summer day. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 7, 1931 to Pedro and Otilia (Avila) Resa. He was the third of ten children, so he always had a sibling to play with or get into trouble.
After graduating from high school, Luis went on to join the military, and serve his country. He joined the Navy and served for four years during the Korean War on a submarine. He was always proud of his service to our nation.
After his discharge in 1954, he began his civilian career and went to work for the United States Postal Service. He met many people during his career and made many friends. Luis never met a stranger, and in fact, he would say, “There’s no such thing as strangers, only friends you haven’t met yet.” After his long career, he retired in 1990 and enjoyed raising 4 more children, being a grandparent, and eventually great-grandparent.
Luis was above all a family man. If you asked him what he loved, or who, it would always be his family, and he was proud of each and every one of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Antonella “Toni” (Tejeda) Resa; and siblings, Pedro “Pete” Resa, Gilbert Resa, Ricardo “Richard” Resa, Virginia Mendoza, Stella Elliott, Tony Resa and Edward Resa.
He is survived by his wife and caregiver, DeAnn (Simmons) Resa; children, Patricia Bluml, Syndi Larez, Anita McFeeters, Roberta Orth, Kellene Rorabaugh, Nichole Rafferty, Alicia Mitchell, and (finally a boy!) Brendan Resa; siblings, Ernesto “Ernie” Resa and Sylvia Wilkinson; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
