Born in Great Bend, Kansas to Joseph and Katherine Felder, she lived the life of a farm girl outside Kinsley, Kansas. During her early years she perfected her cooking and sewing skills in 4-H, which she would use throughout the remainder of her life. Marilyn met the love of her life, James Davis, and were married. Together, they built a life centered around family, fun and friendship. They had two sons, Robert and Paul. Marilyn worked at Dillard’s department for 36 years, making valuable friendships along the way that she kept into retirement. She also made valuable work out of her favorite hobby, sewing.
While she loved her work and friendships, family was the most important thing to Marilyn. She was a devoted wife to James until his death, a loving mother, and a dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother. She became a pillar in her granddaughters’ lives and always welcomed them and their friends into her home. She also loved spending time with her brother and sister, Jerome and Carolyn, and held her relationships with them close to her heart.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband James Davis, father Joseph Felder and mother Katherine Felder. She is survived by her older brother Jerome Felder, twin sister Carolyn (LeRoy) Sawyer, son Robert Davis, son Paul (D’Ann) Davis, granddaughter Robyn (Dylan) Filburn, granddaughter Rachel (Sheldon) Oetken, granddaughter Amber (Tommy) Schmidt, and great-grandchildren Amelia and Annabelle Schmidt and James and Holly Oetken.
A graveside service will be held at Resthaven for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to MiracleFeet in support of Marilyn’s great-granddaughter Amelia at https://donate.miraclefeet.org/StepUpForAmelia.
