Gerald (Jerry) Baginski of Wolcott passed away February 15, 2026, in the excellent and loving care of Mary-Ellen, his wife of 59 years. He leaves sons Andrew and his wife Patricia of Wethersfield, Robert and his husband Chris of Harwich, Massachusetts, and Michael of New Britain; brother Donald of Norwich; grandsons Liam, Eamon, and Aedan of Wethersfield; sister-in-law Deborah Carozza of Waterbury; nephew Thomas Carozza of Southington; and many cherished and beloved friends and neighbors.
Jerry was a music teacher for 43 years and taught students of all levels in the public school systems of both Meriden and Newington and at East Catholic High School in Manchester. He was also a professional musician, playing in the gig band, Sound Dimension, throughout Connecticut. In addition, he was a composer, golfer, athlete, traveler, and enjoyed gambling. Jerry held a bachelor’s degree from the Hartt School of Music, a master’s degree from Trinity College, and a 6th-year certificate from Fairfield University.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and his true passion was for his family. He was there for every concert, game, graduation, and holiday. He loved gadgets, Photoshop, and Capitol Lunch hot dogs, and he passed his love of music on to his sons and grandsons. He played accordion since childhood and was a talented pianist, although he never learned to sing or play bassoon. His family and friends will miss his bad jokes and presence, and he will always be loved.
