Michelle M. (Bernard) Zyvert, 67, lifelong Rockford area resident passed away Wednesday June 9, 2021. She was born March 2, 1954 in Rockford IL, the daughter of John and Lois (Dirksen) Bernard. She graduated from Auburn High School and Rock Valley College.
Michelle had a 40 year career with the United States Postal Service serving in multiple management positions. She retired as Postmaster of Leaf River, IL. Michelle was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Roscoe Chapter, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and served more than 30 years as treasurer, Rockford branch National Association of Postal Supervisors.
She passionately loved her children and family. She delighted in her two grandsons, Ben and Lucas Gallo and was thrilled to welcome grandniece Emily and grandnephews Dylan and Kolyn into her life. She will miss her family and friends.
Michelle is survived by son Timothy Zyvert, daughter Danielle (Tony) Gallo, sister Maureen Bernard, brothers Michael and Paul Bernard, grandsons Benjamin and Lucas Gallo, niece Elizabeth Schilb, nephew Patrick (Kathyrn) Bernard, grandnephews Dylan and Kolyn Kruger. Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents John and Gladys (Beach) Dirksen, Charles and Augustine (Hartmann) Bernard, parents John and Lois Bernard, nephews Brian Bernard and John Schilb, sister -in-law Kathy Bernard, sister-in-law Claudette Cormier.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to charity of choice or Court Street United Methodist Church.
Visitation for Michelle will be Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 West State Street in Rockford. Service to Celebrate Michelle's Life will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 14, 2021 at Court Street United Methodist Church 215 Court Street in Rockford. Burial will be in Willwood Cemetery in Rockford.
