Daniel Patrick Blacktooth, 72, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in Bakersfield, CA. He was born on August 26, 1949 in San Diego, CA. He spent his early years in the San Diego area and served in the U.S. Navy in 1968 during the Vietnam War. He received 3 U.S. war medals: National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He had lived in Bakersfield, CA since the age of 25.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father and mother, Augustine and Lucille Blacktooth, two sisters, Loretta Linton and Dorothy Blacktooth, and son Victor Martinez, Jr.
He is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Sally Pittman; daughter Carmen Portillo and son-in-law Fernando Portillo; son Aaron Calistro and daughter-in-law Aurora Calistro; son Edward Calistro; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sisters Shirley Brock and Angelena Blacktooth; and nieces and nephews of the Pala Indian Tribe. His calm and quiet presence will be missed and remembered forever.
Visitation and viewing are scheduled from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
