MARBLEHEAD – Gerald “Jerry” Frongillo, 67, of Marblehead passed away at Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington on Tuesday, October 29th. He was the beloved husband of Deborah (Santerre) Frongillo of Marblehead with whom he shared 44 years.
Born in Revere, Jerry was the son of Lillian (Monzione) Frongillo of California and the late Ernest Frongillo, Jr. Jerry was the loving father of Teresa Smith and her husband, Stephen of Marblehead and Thomas Frongillo, and his girlfriend, Drew Cohen of California; the cherished “Papa” to his grandchildren, Morgan and Stella Smith; and the dear brother of Ernest Frongillo, III and his wife, Bernadette of New Hampshire, Gail Deveau and her husband, Timothy of California and the late Thomas and John Frongillo. Jerry is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jerry worked as a commercial diver, underwater welder and pile driver and was a member of Local #56 of the Massachusetts State Carpenters Union for many years. He worked on many construction projects in and around Boston over the years with New England Foundation Company and others, including the Big Dig and the Third Harbor Tunnel. He was a Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed painting, puzzles, reading at the beach and enjoying the ocean. Most of all, he loved spending time with his entire family, especially his grandchildren, picking them up from school, helping them with homework, spoiling them and taking them on special trips to Walmart to buy “water” (aka legos).
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 3rd from 1 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Eusits & Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 4th at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead.
