In the early morning hours of May, the 11th, “Grandpa Les” was reunited with his loving parents and father in heaven. He passed away in the arms of his loving & devoted wife, Patti Ann Dawes.
Born on June 30th, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Howard Marvin and Shirley Ann Peterson Dawes. Being the eldest of 6 siblings, Les had a big role to play in his family and he filled that role completely. Les graduated from Granger High School in 1971 where he joined the National Guard Air Force and was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi and honorably served for six years. Les married his high school sweetheart Patti Ann Grant on May 25th, 1972; later, Les became a loving father to two kids Mindy Dawes, and John (Elizabeth) Dawes.
Early in his career as a manufacturing engineer Les worked for Sperry Univac where the family relocated to Manti, Utah for Six years. He also worked for Iomega, Unisys and Control 4 and during this time served as the Chapter President of SMTA (Surface Mount Technology Association).
Les enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was camping, riding four wheelers, hunting and coaching youth sports from soccer to little league football. He was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need. Les was also a caring grandfather to his five grandkids Brianne, Heidi, Jace, Makenna & Landen.
The family would like to extend thanks to the wonderful staff at Lighten Home Health & Hospice. To Janelle, Miwa & Ashley, thank you for all the love and care you gave to Patti & Les. Thank you to all the family friends who called, visited and expressed love and concern for Les, this meant a lot to the family.
Les’s remains will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be scheduled for a later time.
