Plant a Tree in Memory of Someone Special

Planting a tree is a symbolic way to pay tribute to a life while taking part in a larger effort to protect and maintain the beauty of our world. For many who are grieving, knowing that a living, breathing tree has been planted in memory of their loved one brings a sense of comfort and connection greater than they ever imagined.

A partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and the Canadian Institute of Forestry, Memorial Trees allows you to plant 10, 20 or 30 trees in a North American forest in honor of someone special. Your gift is a memorial that will grow and flourish, supporting clean air, wildlife habitat, drinking water and a more sustainable planet.

How it works

  1. You choose to plant 10, 20 or 30 trees in your loved one's memory.
  2. You get the option to share your name to the tribute wall or remain anonymous.
  3. Memorial Trees sends you a beautiful tree dedication certificate that includes your loved one's name, your name and the name of the forest where your gift will be planted. It's yours to share with your loved one's family.
  4. A professional tree planter will plant your gift in an area in need of reforestation. Trees are planted where they are needed most to nurture a lush and balanced environment.
  5. You are notified with the GPS coordinates of where your tree is planted. You can look the coordinates up online and share them with your loved one's family.
  6. Foresters responsible for the area will oversee your tree and periodically assess its health with the goal of seeing it grow big and strong.
  7. For years to come, your gift will serve as a living memorial to your loved one and help nurture the planet on which we all live.

PLANT A TREE

Why trees

Trees have superpowers. As a sympathy gift, trees do more than show you care about a loved one lost. They help provide the necessities of life for generations to come.

By planting Memorial Trees, you support:

  • Clean air
  • Clean water
  • Wildlife habitat
  • Species diversification
  • Community connections
  • Jobs

What's more, when you plant trees, you help all of us breathe a little easier. Wildfires, hurricanes, floods, disease and drought have destroyed millions of trees in forests around North America in recent years, Memorial Trees support reforestation.
