Michael W. Hulburt, Jr., Senior Trooper, Texas DPS (Retired), Sergeant, U.S. Army, passed away on June 05, 2021, at the age of 51. He was born and raised in Tillamook, Oregon, and spent most of his adult life in El Paso. While in the Army, he served in the military police with tours of duty on Johnston Atoll and in Somalia.
Upon leaving the Army, he became a state trooper, serving the people of El Paso and Texas faithfully for 22 years. Throughout his career, he supported relief efforts in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, aided Customs and Border Patrol in South Texas, and responded to the tragic 2019 El Paso shooting. He retired from DPS in April 2020 as a Senior Trooper and received a Special Texas Ranger Commission shortly thereafter.
He is survived by many loving friends and family members including his children Carrie and Christopher, their mother Shay, and his wife Norma and his beloved stepsons, Jonus and Deven. He is also survived by his parents, Michael Sr. and Kathy, and his siblings, Tom and Sally, and their families. Michael will be remembered fondly for his public service, sense of humor, passion for woodworking, and tireless devotion to family.
On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, his services will be held at Evergreen East Funeral Home from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm for all who wish to grieve, reminisce, and celebrate his life.
