Betty “Baukje Koch” Minnema, age 80, passed away peacefully Monday, September 27, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Gertrude Koch. She will be deeply missed by her sons Dean Minnema, Clarke Minnema, Kurt Minnema; grandchildren Derek David Dee Minnema, Patrick Clarke Minnema; siblings Ralph Koch, Hans Koch, DeeDee Koch Noble, Theodore Koch; and many extended relatives and friends.
Betty enjoyed cooking and perfecting her recipes - especially her “pigs in a blanket” which took about ten years to perfect. She was also very talented at crocheting and knitting. She would make numerous afghans for others, hats for the children’s hospital, and clothing articles for her family. Her most important passion was her family. She loved spending time with them at family cookouts, get-togethers, special one-on-one time with her sons, and ice cream trips with her dad in her youth.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home - Wayland Chapel, 312 N. Main St., Wayland, MI 49348, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
