Albert Wilson Woodley, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday January 19, 2018 in Temple, Texas. He was born August 9, 1927 in Orrville, Alabama to John and Sallie Woodley. When he was young his family bought land in Port Huron, Michigan and there, Albert was raised. He was preceded in death by his siblings, John Woodley Jr., Miriam Portis (John), George Woodley (Corine), and Emma Woodley, all of Port Huron, Michigan. His eldest sister, Johnnie Mae Ashford, 96, still resides on the family land.
Albert Woodley joined the US Army in 1952 and served 27 years as a Supply Sergeant and served in the Military Police. He was a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including two Bronze Stars for Combat, and a Civil Action Unit Citation. Albert Woodley was married to Lucille Woodley of Port Huron, Michigan for 48 wonderful years before her untimely death in 2005. Together they raised four children, and as a military family, they made their homes in many places including Alaska, Hawaii, and Germany. Albert enjoyed life and had many hobbies and interests. He was quite, yet creative, and valued family above all else. In his spare time he was known to be found at the local bingo hall with friends or spending time traveling, visiting his children.
He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter Carlotta D. Daigle (Joseph M.). He is survived by his sons, Albert T. Woodley and Tracey M. Woodley, and one daughter. Brigit M. Wilgus (John F.). He has a host of grandchildren, Carlotta M. Binns (Will G.), Tiffany S. Wilson, Nikko Acosta, Christopher A. Camacho, Khary Dobbins, Carlotta K. Woodley, Terrill M. Woodley, Amaya J. Wilgus, Jadyn S. Wilgus, and one great-grandchild Annora A. Binns
