He was born on April 27, 1933 to Harry and Dorothy Ambler in Pontiac, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Sharron; son, Randy Ambler of Gladwin; daughter, Kathleen Swan of Kalkaska; step-sons, Rane (Sherri) McCleese of Pottersville, Dale McCleese of Waterford, Brian (Heather) Merritt of Midland, Dustan Merritt of Freeland and step-daughter, Shannon Beaver of Lexington. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death my wives Phyllis and Charlene along with one step- daughter, Dawn.
Henry grew up in Pontiac, Michigan and Clinton, Ontario Canada. He later owned a cottage in Goodrich, Ontario for many years. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier USS Gilbert Islands. He retired from General Motors Truck and Bus after working there for 27 1/2 years. He loved to fish and go deer hunting. He could often be found in his workshop working on various projects. He was also a master builder of cub and split wing airplanes in his younger years, they were a dream to fly.
After retirement, he became a "snowbird", spending the winters in North Ft. Myers, Florida and summers in Waterford and then White Lake, Michigan. He and his wife Sharron enjoyed yearly cruises to the Caribbean.
Cremation has taken place and a burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the White Lake Fire and Rescue, 7420 Highland Road in White Lake, Michigan 48383 or to Hartland Hospice, 3840 Packard Road, Suite 260 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
