Carol Joy Lewin was born on December 20,1960 in Kingston Jamaica. She was the second child of Fitz and Valda Lewin. Carol spent her early years in Vineyard Town, where she attended Rollington Town Primary School. Carol discovered her musical talent in primary school where she learned to play the recorder.
In 1972 at age 12 Carol obtained a scholarship to St. Hugh’s High school, an all girls high school. Carol was very active during her high school years. She swam, played netball and was an integral part of the field hockey team. She was also a part of the drama club and the Interact Club.
After graduating from high school, Carol gave birth to her only child Adrian Pantry. She then attended the University of the West Indies(UWI) School of Nursing. Carol graduated as a registered nurse. She worked for a few years at the Bustamante Children’s hospital before migrating to the United States.
Carol lived in Queens NY for most of her life. She worked at Lennox Hill hospital for many years before leaving to work as a trauma nurse at Mary Immaculate Hospital. She spent many years as a loving wife and mother. Carol decided to move to Georgia in 2008, where She worked both at Emory; and then Hillandale. Carol worked hard as a caring Registered Nurse for more than 40 years, but decided to stop for issues with health.
On July 25 2020, we lost a beautiful, gracious and loving soul who will sit with us all for a lifetime until we meet again.
