Cody Earl Minor, 26, of El Lago, Texas, a sweet loving son, brother, and friend passed away peacefully September 7, 2020 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Nassau Bay, Texas on January 26, 1994 to Joe Todd Minor and Ramona Lynn Minor and was raised in El Lago/Seabrook, Texas. He graduated from Clear Falls High School in 2013.
Cody loved cars and trucks, eating pizza, giving his niece gifts, listening to music before he lost his hearing last year, and as of late, cruising around on his scooter. He had a very sweet, compassionate heart and charismatic personality that gave him a unique ability to find new friends anywhere he was. He loved to tell jokes to entertain and make people laugh. He had a special clothing style that suited his personality that made us smile. Cody was always on the move, curious about what or who was behind the next door.
Cody’s life was met with many challenges and medical conditions. At a young age he was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease, a rare adrenal gland insufficiency disorder, and Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria, an ultra-rare bone marrow failure disease. He later suffered with numerous other medical conditions including congestive heart failure and was on dialysis.
The last several years Cody was in the hospital more than he was not. Many of the hospital doctors, nurses, and staff knew Cody due to his personality and inability to sit still for too long. He would run the hospital halls when he was able to. It was a blessing that we had him in our lives for as long as we did. He was a trooper and dealt with it all the best he could until he could not anymore. He touched so many lives and he will be missed greatly.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ramona, grandparents Audrey and Louis Recio, and grandparents Patsy Minor and his namesake Pawpaw Earl Minor.
Cody is survived by his loving and caregiving father, Todd Minor with Karen McSpadden, brother, James Minor with Kayla Duggan, his favorite person in the entire world, niece Ava Lynn Minor, sister, Stacy Minor with Tony Domingo, aunt Trisha Minor with Philip Smith, aunt Rowena and uncle John Wenzel, cousins Tommy, Richard, Brittany, and Steven and others.
Special appreciation to his amazing caregiver, Rose, his dialysis nurses, Maria, Lily, and Nydia, and Dr. Shouieb Tambra, Dr. Lawrence Rice, Dr. Jiajian Lin and Dr. Maria Gonzales.
