Jean Simpson Cook was reunited in Heaven with her husband, W. G. “Sonny” Cook after she took her final breath on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Slidell, Louisiana surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 28, 1931 to Emmett C. Simpson and Bessie Lee Eli Simpson in Kingsville, Texas and lived 89 memorable years. Jean married the love of her life, Sonny, on September 18, 1949 and together they raised two children, Michael and Patricia.
Jean was a homemaker and loved spending as much time as possible with her family.
Jean in rejoicing in Heaven alongside her parents; husband; sister, Pauline Bareis and brother, E.C. Simpson.
Left behind to carry on her legacy and life lessons are her children, Mike (Janet) Cook of Magnolia, Texas and Patricia (Mike) Nelson of Slidell, Louisiana; grandchildren, Ryan Cook of Spring, Texas and Jason (Christina) Nelson of Chalmette, Louisiana; two great-grandchildren, Gabriella Kay Nelson and Jason Michael “Gator Bear” Nelson, Jr.; nephew, John Bareis of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and great-niece, Brittany Bareis Pritchett.
A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Falfurrias Burial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Due to the current pandemic, masks are required for all funeral services.
