Jerry was predeceased by his parents Kurt 1993 and Adele 2014 and grandson Mason 2010.
Jerry, as we all knew him, was born in Germany on January 7, 1951 at Gaarz, Germany. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 with his parents Kurt and Adele and brother Wolfgang settling near Georgetown, ON.
In his later teens, Jerry attended Fanshawe College in London, ON, completing the Machinist program, receiving top marks in his class. He later obtained his Millwright ticket and worked many years in the oil and gas construction industry, before becoming involved with writing pipeline estimating software.
Jerry loved life and lived it to the absolute fullest. He had many, many passions. First and foremost was his love of cars and rebuilding them and racing them in his teens. His latest project was concours restoration of a 1970 Mach1 Cobra Jet Mustang. This was his absolute passion and his attention to detail was unmatched.
He moved west in the early 70s. Loved the mountains, camping, dirt biking, horseback riding (King and Shorty), skiing, hunting and fishing. There was nothing Jerry never tried at least once. Then the ocean called and the family was off with the boat going on many voyages in and around the B.C. coast. After their boating days, Jerry bought his final 2-wheel ride a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 Classic LT and those amazing bike tours began, the Oregon Coast being one of many. If there was fun to be had, Jerry was in the center of it and led the charge. His good buddies will remember them with a laugh. Family gatherings always had Jerry cooking up a storm and sharing some of his famous “Oysters Rockefeller” with music playing (loudly) in the background and a glass of wine in hand. There may have been a dance or two around the kitchen island.
Jerry’s smile and zest for life will be missed by us all.
There will be no formal service at this time, but if all our lives return to normal a future get together might be arranged.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Jerry’s memory directly to the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society, (http://www.cfbts.org/donate/).
