Gerri was born on June 29, 1939, the eldest of four children of Paul E. and Mildred I. Forget of Detroit, Michigan. She passed away on Sept. 20, 2021, after a long neurological illness. She graduated from St. Christopher’s Catholic School and Frank Cody High School and worked in banking until 1960 when she married Richard A Brehmer, with whom she had two sons, Richard A. Brehmer, Jr. and Glenn A. Brehmer.
Gerri went into the airline business in the mid-sixties where she served as a reservation agent, airport ticket counter agent, and flight attendant, retiring in 1999. She enjoyed travel, reading, gardening, decorating and roller skating, and because of her airline connection was able to ski with family and friends at resorts throughout the US and Canada. She loved attending the Indy 500, passionately loved animals and adopted many “pound puppies” over the years. She was a doggie foster mom for Wee Waggin’ Rescue in Naples Florida where she lived for many years.
Gerri is the widow of Gary R. Bittle of Brunswick, OH, and is survived by her son Glenn (Linda) Brehmer of White Lake, MI, granddaughters Amy and Kristen Brehmer, her sister Linda Sizemore of Mission Viejo, CA , and eight nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Richard Brehmer Jr., her husband Gary Bittle, parents Paul and Mildred Forget, brother David Forget, and sister Elizabeth Forget.
Memorial Mass with Inurnment will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 1:00pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples, Florida 34120.
