Dr. Melvin J. Gay, age 83, of Rochester, passed away on October 13, 2020. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan on August 12, 1937. Mel graduated from Grosse Pointe High School and went on to receive his DDS from the University of Michigan. He was married to Patsy Ellen Majeska on March 21, 1959. Mel had a career in dentistry for 42 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rochester, the Rochester Rotary, the Elks Club, and he was a Discussion Leader in Bible Study Fellowship for 13 years. Mel always had a passion for hunting, fishing, golfing, and most importantly, his family. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; his children, Rebecca (Charles), Catherine (Michael), Laurie (William) and Kristine (Thomas); his grandchildren, Diana (Dominic), Jacob (Jen), Zachary, Caroline, Andrew (Jennifer), Daniel, Grace, Matthew, and Timothy; his great grandchildren, Annalynn, Charlize and Maverick; his sister, Helen (Robert) Reed; and his brother in law, Alan Majeska. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 4-7 PM at First Baptist Church of Rochester, 6377 Orion Rd., Rochester Hills, MI 48306. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 11 AM, with visitation beginning at 10 AM until time of service, at First Baptist Church of Rochester. Donations in Mel’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association, First Baptist Church of Rochester, or the Rochester Rotary.
