Ellen was the very definition of a classy lady. I met her when my mother was living at Stuarts Draft Retirement Community. Mom and Ellen became close friends and frequently had dinner at the same table with other friends. My mother passed in 2017. Ellen called me a couple of years ago and we had a delightful conversation. We have moved out of the area, but cherish the friendship we had with this lovely woman. Heaven is rejoicing at her arrival. 

To Ellen Balsley's  Daughter (Judy) & Son (Tim) &  rest of her family:. .I am so very sorry to read about Ellen's passing...She was such a sweet Lady that I got to know about 10 to 12  years ago at Clark's Sawmill in Raphine.  I enjoyed her friendship & the dances we had....She was a great dancer and nice to know...She will be greatly missed by me and  all the Sawmill group.





Dear Judy,
Your mother shaped the lives of many in our community. I am grateful to have been a part of that group who had her to look up to and respect. I remember her zeal and zest for all things and her creativity with florals and events.  I am so blessed by knowing her. Since reading of her passing I have been praying for you all. Know you are loved and thought of often.

Dear Tim, Judy and families,

I have so many special memories of your mom when I was growing up.  She was a very kind and elegant lady, and I loved the sound of her voice.  My first memory of her is helping us to make hats to wear in  the annual Stuarts Draft Church Bible School Parade.  I was probably four or five years old😍.   I will be praying for all of you…I know there will be a void in your lives, but it will only last a little while, until we are all reunited in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I am so sorry for your loss of Ellen but it warms my heart to know she is in her home prepared for her by the Lord, reunited with her family and friends and becoming a guardian angel for her family on earth...I can not remember not knowing Ellen and how special she always made you feel....even in these last years. I will be praying for courage, strength and peace of heart as you face the days ahead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nellie Irene (Copenhaver) McSpadden; husband,Robert Elwood “Bob” Balsley;daughter, Pam Beverage; and a grandson, Seth Saunders.


Mrs. Balsley is survived by a son, Tim Balsley and wife Shirlee; a daughter, Judy Fox and husband Don; seven grandchildren, James Fox, Laura Fox, Thomas Fox, Tyler Fox, Brandon Dillard, Ashley Dillard, Whitney Dillard; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, special friends and loved ones.
