Clarice A. Clayborne, wife of the late CSM Ernest C. Clayborne Sr. (Ret) was born on July 26, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James and Charlotte Hall. She is a graduate of Frederick Douglas High School in Baltimore, Maryland. She married her high school sweetheart CSM Ernest C. Clayborne Sr. (Ret) on April 17 1943 and from that union they had a daughter, Virginia A. Toney and Son, Ernest C. Clayborne Jr. She was an avid reader who cherished her membership in the old book of the month club. She was extremely active in volunteering her time to help others. She was an assistant Brownie Scout Leader in Baumholder Germany. She volunteered working at Hanau Elementary School, in Hanau Germany and the Elementary School in Fort Hood, Texas. She was a member of the NCO wives Club where she served as the Scholarship Chairperson. She was president of the Sacred Heart Guild, Catholic Women’s Organization where she also taught religious education. She prepared girls for the Marian Award, a Catholic award for young girls. She was also on the advisory board of the Parish Council. She volunteered at the American Red Cross for 30 years where she served as the Blood Records Chairman and Casework Chairman. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 6002. Clarice departed this earthly world on Saturday, July 24, 2021 after a lengthy illness. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a caring woman who was always willing to go out of her way to help anyone. She is survived by her son, Ernest C. Clayborne of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and her daughter Virginia A. Toney of Williamsburg, Virginia; two sisters, Delores Estreet of Columbia, Maryland, and Regina Stansbury of Annapolis, Maryland. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Rachel C. Toney MD of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Allison A. Clayborne of Charlotte, North Carolina, Angela A. Clayborne of Durham, North Carolina; and a grandson, Christopher R. Clayborne of Suitland, Maryland; and by a great grandson, Christian Clayborne of Suitland, Maryland. Burial and grave site ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to be scheduled.
