Oma Taylor

Oma Sexton Taylor, 88, of Solsberry passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020. She was born July 20, 1931 a coal miner’s daughter, in the hills of Letcher County Kentucky. She was the daughter of Delzy and Viola (Gibson) Sexton of Isom Kentucky. She married her husband Harrison Taylor and together they moved to Indiana. Though she moved to Indiana, she was well rooted in her Kentucky heritage and upbringing, and very proud of it. Oma was a spunky and independent lady. She loved planting her garden in the spring, working in it and watching it grow. Always canning and making sure her kids had their share. She raised her children by herself most of her life, working hard to make sure they were provided for. She previously worked for Sarkes Tarzian of Bloomington, and was a long time member of the Greene County Chapel of Solsberry. She is survived by her three children, Lynn (Linda) Taylor, Marlin (Charlene) Taylor of Bloomington and Debbie (Curt) Secrest of Bloomfield, one sister Imogene Halcomb of Bloomington, two brothers Merlin Sexton of Florida and Demos Sexton of South Carolina, grandchildren Jennifer (Brian) Allman, Jill (Jim) Bays, Jana (Steve) Bryant, Chris (Sarah Goodman) Williams, Christy (Shaun) Davis, Madonna (fiancé Keith) Plachy, Joshua Taylor and Amanda (Alex) Pearson, and eight great-grandchildren Gwenith, Logan, Oran, Amos, Max, Ethan, Isaiah and Destiny. Those proceeding her in this life and anxiously waiting their joyous reunion are: her husband Harrison, parents Delzy and Viola, brothers Amos, Arlie, Olan, and Enos, granddaughter Julie Harp, and great-granddaughter Jessica Allman. Private family Funeral Services were held at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel on Saturday, March 21st with Pastor Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Greene County Chapel Cemetery.
