Eamon Mathew Tierney, 72, of Ames, Iowa, passed away peacefully Monday, January 15, 2024 at his home, surrounded by family. Eamon was born September 27, 1951 in Belfast, Northern Ireland to John and Kathleen (McGoran) Tierney.
His father was a seaman during WWII. His parents were married in Ireland, then separated but never divorced. His mother moved to Warrington, England with the children. In his teen years and early adulthood, he worked construction and warehousing in England.
He immigrated to the United States to marry Kay on August 9, 1999. He moved to Ames and lived in the same house for 24 happy years, during which time he became a US citizen on November 6, 2015.
He worked for Barilla of America in Ames for 16 years.
He enjoyed camping and visiting family and friends. He adopted two cats, Ben and Jerry.
But his most satisfying accomplishment was getting through the immigration process.
He is survived by his wife Kay, of Ames; and four siblings still in England: Joan Wall, Brian Tierney and Colette Tierney of Warrington, and Jim (Jean) Tierney of Liverpool; children, Lorna and Callum Tierney of Warrington, stepson Casey Jones of Boone, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
