

Lawrence “Larry” Melvin Freeman, 74, of Nevada, died Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Calvary United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5-7 PM at Stevens Memorial Chapel.
Larry was born on August 18, 1938 in Rockford, IL; the son of Kenneth and Naomi Clarkson Freeman. He worked as a security watchman at Burns Security and then at ISU Disease Lab until his retirement. Larry married the love of his life, Elaine Sebert, and they had three sons.
Larry was a hard worker who loved his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, drag racing, animals and playing the slots at just about any casino he visited. Larry is remembered as a compassionate and kind man with a sense of humor. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Ames.
Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine of Nevada; sons, Kevin (Joni) Freeman of Boone, Kent Freeman and Kyle Freeman, both of Nevada; a daughter, Dora Wood of Allison; 7 grandchildren, brothers, Bill (Rosie) Freeman of Las Vegas, NV, Jerry Freeman of Boone, Rick (Vicky) Freeman of Clarion, John (Colleen) Freeman of Eagle Grove; a sister, Judy (Ron) Chapman of Clarion and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob Freeman and Ronnie Freeman and a sister, Patty Freeman.
