Richard Lande

Dick Lande, 67, of Huxley, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 17, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Burial will follow in Fjeldberg Cemetery in Huxley with full military honors.

Dick was born March 9, 1943, in Ames to Ardo and Wilma (Moore) Lande. He graduated from Ballard High School in 1960. He lived his whole life in Huxley.

Dick was a 3rd class gunner’s mate. He worked for Armstrong Tire and Rubber for 33 years.

Dick married Linda Beach on Nov. 26, 1965, and to this marriage, three children were born, Jody (Duane) Gealow, of Huxley, and Jason (Kari) Lande, of Slater. He had five special grandchildren, Sheridan, Austin, and Carley Gealow, and Chance and Jada Lande. He is also survived by two brothers, Gary (Vicky) Lande, of Lucas, and Steven (Marilyn) Lande, of Alleman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Lande on Dec. 26, 2009; and an infant son at birth in 1972.
