

Betty Jean Hobby Humphries is dancing with the Angels today as she reunites with her late father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eugene Hobby of Apex, North Carolina. Betty joined her Lord from the arms of her daughter, Angela Humphries Rowe, on Saturday, March 12th. She was blessed with the gift of a final prayer with her son, Timothy Dwayne Humphries.
Betty is remembered as being brilliant, beautiful and bold. Betty's artistic talents are scattered like precious gems throughout the homes of those she loved. Apex High School yearbooks are full of her accomplishments such as President of Future Business Leaders of America, Future Teachers of America, Daughters of the American Revolution, 1962 High School Varsity Queen, etc. She volunteered on various committees and resident councils throughout her life. Governor James Martin awarded Betty with the State of North Carolina Certificate of Appreciation for her dedication and devotion to N.C.'s greatest resource, her people.
She leaves behind sisters Marion Smith (George Smith), Patricia Bryant (Bob Bryant), Jane Ragan (Joe Ragan), Deborah Parker and brother Charles Hobby and numerous nieces and nephews. Her most precious blessings were her son-in-law William Mercer Rowe, IV, grandchildren Steven Craig Hyatt (Michaela Stark Hyatt), Kasi Raquel Hummel and William Mercer Rowe, V and her great grandchildren Vanessa Lizette Cruz and Judson Cash Hyatt.
A funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502. Burial will follow the service at Wake Memorial Park in Cary. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the funeral home.
