Billy Ray Moran

9 mayo , 19424 octubre , 2020

Billy Ray Moran, 78, of Raleigh went to his eternal home on October 4, 2020 at Duke University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born on May 9, 1942 in Virginia, the son of the late Leonard Moran and Ada Salmon Moran. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 -1964 and retired from IBM after a 45-year career.

Billy was a devoted husband, best friend to his daughter and son-in-law, favorite playmate to his grandsons, and loyal friend to all who knew him. He was a passionate NC State fan, an avid golfer, a fixture on the dance floor at any celebration, always quick with a joke, and a beacon of hope and positivity for those in his life. Billy believed in the saving grace of Christ. He knew that there was a blessing in all circumstances and, if we looked close enough, we’d find it. Billy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Creech Moran, his daughter, Heather Moran Charney and husband Troy Charney, and his two grandsons, Porter Ray Charney and Laine Knoll Charney.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please visit “Remembering Billy Ray” at https://hmcharney.wixsite.com/website for updates and details.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Billy's honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Linda, this is hard for me and I can’t imagine what you and the family are going through. Billy was a good friend. We spent many hours together over the years mostly involving golf. I’m gonna miss him greatly. Kathy and I are praying for you. God bless.

Linda, needless to say, I was saddened to hear of Billy’s passing. He was a great friend. As you know, he & I had many good times together. I’m remembering some of them as I write this note. My condolences to you and your family.

Dear Linda, I am so sorry for your loss. I have lots of fond memories of when you worked for Jim Long and I worked for Todd Piacenza. You were so much fun and so, so helpful. You sat outside and took shorthand when Todd was dictating, because I didn't remember shorthand from high school. Thank you so much for being such a good friend. I'll never forget you telling George Muller that you talked a lot because you were well-qualified - your father was an auctioneer and your mother was a woman. I know you had a wonderful life with your Prince Charming, and I'm so sorry you've lost him, but it's just temporary, you'll see him again. Love & Prayers, Gloria 919-332-1140

I will surely miss his sense of humor and positive outlook on life. His golf game was questionable at times, but he always looked forward to the next time!
As the song goes, "only the good die young" and Billy Ray will be missed by many. God bless Billy and his family.
