

Brantly Brodt Braswell, 54, beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully on August 19, 2013. Members of his family surrounded him. Brodt is survived by his wife, Beth; his sons, Brantly and Davis; his mother, Nancy Gibson (Julian), his father, John Braswell (Vonceil); his sisters, Beverly Braswell and Shelly Whittington; step siblings, Yvonne McWhirter (Dwayne), Pat Addison, Bob Gibson (Patsy), and Dick Gibson (Nancy); and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Brodt was a quiet, elegant man of God, who was loved, admired, and respected by his family, friends, and colleagues. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He adored his sons, Brantly and Davis, who made him proud and gave him so much joy. Brodt dedicated his time to loving, supporting, and encouraging them, as he lived his life as an example of integrity and excellence.
He earned a BS Degree from UNC-Charlotte, where he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity; an MA Degree in Accounting from North Carolina State University; and an MBA from Campbell University. Brodt worked for Progress Energy (Duke Energy) for 28 years and earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Most recently, Brodt enjoyed his work outdoors on his family’s blueberry farm and his involvement in the church. Brodt Braswell will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. Rest in peace, our dear Brodt.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on August 25, 2013, at Faith Baptist Church, 1004 US 64, Apex, North Carolina. A reception to honor Brodt’s life will be held immediately following the ceremony in the Church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church (PO Box 223, Apex, NC 27502) and designated for a need based college scholarship fund in Brodt’s memory.
