Bruce C. Ferrell

Bruce C. Ferrell, 95, of Apex died on Sunday, March 06, 2011. Mr. Ferrell was a native of Apex and a lifelong member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was born on November 17, 1915 to Poin Dexter Ferrell and Annie Lewter. Mr. Ferrell served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII as an Amphibian Track Vehicle Mechanic. He made his career farming tobacco on his family’s farm in Chatham County, worked as a plumber/pipe fitter and was the community handyman. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite and a member and past Master of the Green Level Lodge # 277 AF & AM. He also was Past Governor of York Rite, Certified Lecturer for 46 years, Past District Deputy Grand Master, Past District Deputy Grand Lecturer, member of Easter Star Chapter 366 in Cary, Past Master of Amran, and Honorary member of many lodges in the area. This was his 70th year of being a Mason joining in 1941. Mr. Ferrell served two terms as a Chatham County Commissioner.

He is survived by his niece, Marie D’Ambrosi (Don) of Apex, Rebecca Goodwin (Carl) of Apex, Dorothy Shepherd (Otho) of Cary, Joy Bacon (Ray) of Georgia, Carolyn Siler (David) of Siler City, Nancy Sealey of Apex, Carey Bruce Wilson (Mildred) of Apex, Bobby Wilson of Durham. He was preceded in death by his three brothers: Carl, Raymond, Clem and two sisters: Beulah Thompson and Lila Wilson. There are several great nieces and nephews that he loved and cherished.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 am Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 1334 Mt. Pisgah Church Rd., Apex, NC. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Green Level Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. Members of the Masonic Lodge #277 will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the home of Don and Marie d’Ambrosi, 275 Ferrell Road West, Apex.
