Our dear son and brother, Christopher Michael MacEntee, was welcomed into heaven on May 25, 2016. Chris was born in Cocoa Beach, Florida on May 23, 1992 and lived most of his life in Cary, North Carolina. He graduated from Athens Drive High School, attended University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and most recently resided in Lake Worth, Florida.
Chris is loved and survived by his parents, Duane and Caren MacEntee, and younger brother, Jacob, of Cary, NC; Dave Cadmus, grandfather, Rockledge, FL; Uncle Vaughn and Aunt Jane MacEntee, Carolina Shores, NC; Aunt Diane MacEntee of Rockledge, FL; Uncle David and Aunt Michele Cadmus of Palmetto, FL; Uncle Mark and Aunt Katy Miller of Rockledge, FL; amazing cousins Deborah McDuffie; Jason, Erin, Finn and Rowan MacEntee; Tessa Rufino; Matthew and Sean Miller; Devon and Travis Jackson; and many other extended family members and loving friends.
A gentle spirited, fun-loving, kind-hearted and oh so intelligent young man, Chris loved deeply and is thoroughly loved by his family and friends. He was genuinely friendly and all those who met Chris were seldom strangers for long. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful passion for life. Though Chris struggled with the disease of addiction, it did not define his true self.
Chris loved music, animals, and the beach, but everyone who knew him knows Chris especially loved cars. His bright smile always beamed while talking about cars, working on them, and attending car shows with his family and friends. Chris was fortunate to work at his dream job in the auto industry in Florida, where he was able to enjoy driving many of his dream cars.
Music was a big part of Chris’ life and he played trumpet in the Athens Drive HS Marching and Symphonic Bands for four years. He was also a proud member of Boy Scout Troop 202 in Cary, where he earned his Eagle Scout rank by helping those suffering the aftermath of an earthquake in Haiti. He spent many summers at Camps Raven Knob and Durant, earning several “Top Shot” awards in shotgun shooting. Chris’ family wishes to thank all of his teachers, church and scout leaders for their guidance and care over the years.
A memorial service and celebration of Chris’ life will be held on Friday, June 24th, 2016 at 3 o’clock at St. Francis United Methodist Church, 2965 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary, NC. Donations in Chris’ name can be made to Boy Scouts of America, Occoneechee Council, 3231 Atlantic Ave., Raleigh, NC 27604.
