
Christopher was born on May 17, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA at Thomas Jefferson Hospital to his parents, Theodor and Helen Siegl. He went to St Patrick elementary, then St. Joseph Preparatory where he was involved in social action and rowed crew. He also became involved as a BSA Explorer in a first aide post and was involved as a leader for a PARC boys and adult troop. He attended Drexel University beginning as a BSEE , his work experience was at U of PA in hyperbaric chambers, developing detection equipment. He and a friend founded a company named DASC. He graduated from Drexel in 1977.
His work experience included power electronics, detection devices and semiconductor uses in various fields. Over his work life he worked for Leeds & Northrup, National Semiconductor, Fairchild Semiconductor, Excelsis, and Advanced Energy. In the course of his work life he traveled nationally and internationally.
Chris was the oldest of 8 children. In order of age, Thomas, Nicholas, Michael, Andrew, Elizabeth, Phillip, and George. He married Adelaide Moran in 1975, and they moved to Maryland in 1980. Three boys followed Michael Seamus in 1982, Brendan David in 1986, and Kevin Theodor in 1988. Chris was involved with the boys, going to the National Zoo, train museums, setting up a HO set up for the boys to play with, and beginning a life long practice of national and international vacation trips.
We moved to Apex NC in 1992. Chris became involved in cub scouts,eventually becoming Pack Leader for 316. He then became involved with boy scouts in troop 209 and established Troop 316, serving as a leader for a number of years, serving as staff for the national Jamborees, and later serving as a district commissioner.
His longest passion was becoming involved in the G-scale garden railroad as part of the new Hope Valley train museum. He served as supervisor of a group of volunteers keeping this train running on ride days. He also served as treasurer, and Committee member on the governing Board.
Another passion was STEM education and outreach. He was also involved in IEEE starting in college and serving in several roles such as stem education, leadership positions, and event organizations, in his 60’s he became a Senior Member. As part of IEEE and his involvement in the BSA he engaged in many forms of outreach, including involvement in IEEE’s Engineer’s Week and bring his engineering experience to BSA projects. In addition he became a member of the cooperative Making spaces Techshop, Splat Space, and the Forge.
Chris received a double lung transplant August 19 2021 performed by Dr. Hartweg.
Chris was predeceased by his parents Ted and Helen Siegl, His brother Michael Maria Siegl, his son Michael Seamus Siegl, His in-laws Robert and Adelaide Moran and his brother in-law Brian Moran. In addition he was predeceased by his mother’s and father's brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Adelaide M Siegl, His sons Kevin and Brendan. His brothers Tom[Linda], Nick [Donna] ,Andy[Beth],Phillip [Robin] , George [ Mary Kate], and Elizabeth. He is survived by 30 nieces and nephews and 14 grand nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 24th, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Apex, NC.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be donated to the IEEE Foundation (They help to provide internet, STEM education, and electricity to disadvantaged areas), Ellie’s Fund at Duke (Helps at need family’s pay for their lung transplants) or you can donate to your local STEM education school program. Remember every drop in the bucket helps to fill it.
