Dorene Bernadette Collesion

Dorene Bernadette Collesion, 61 of Cary died Saturday, May 28, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Dorene was born on May 29, 1949 in the town of Pleasantville in Westchester County, NY to Gwedo Collesion and Julia Lishia Collesion.

Dorene was a loving mother and wife. Her great sense of humor gave evidence that she loved life. Dorene enjoyed traveling extensively with her family especially if it were on a train. She loved her time visiting her relatives in Pennsylvania. She encouraged her family to be creative. Dorene valued class and intelligence over wealth. Dorene was a huge Carolina Hurricanes fan. She cherished her dogs, Cody and Bruno. Most of all, Dorene was no quitter.

She is survived by the love of her life, Peter de Lyon, son, Skip de Lyon of Lumberton, NC; and daughter, Arwen de Lyon; and her sister: Loretta McCarthy of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 9:00 PM Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, A prayer service will be held at 8:30 pm Thursday.

A service to celebrate Dorene’s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday June 4, 2011 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Rd, Apex.

Those considering memorial contributions may make them to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Wake Co.
