Edna Ruth Stephens

Edna Ruth Stephens, 96, passed away after a brief illness on September 19, 2015 at Universal Healthcare in Fuquay-Varina. Born on March 2, 1919 in Bronx, NY; she was the only child of the late John and Katherine Schwarz.

Edna retired as a secretary with Liggett & Meyers in Durham. She was very independent minded and enjoyed being a resident at The Gardens at Wakefield Plantations. She liked spending time with family and friends playing bingo, bunko and poker. Any and all activities were fun.

Edna is lovingly remembered by her daughter: Joan Lamb and husband Jim, of Holly Springs; daughter-in-law: Joan Amoroso, of NY; grandchildren: Chris Amoroso, James Amoroso and wife Tina, Terrence McPhillips and Jackie Amiri and husband Shahrad; great-grandchildren: Matthew Amoroso and Anelia and Matthew Amiri; and other family and friends, including special friends and family, Brian and Marie Lamb.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, William Stephens; by her son, John Amoroso; by her daughter and son-in-law: Patricia and Raymond McPhillips; and by her grandson: Richard McPhillips.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11 AM at Apex Cemetery.
