

Elsie M. Winters (Isennock) passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 6, 2015 at her home in Apex, North Carolina. She was born on March 14, 1927 in Dundalk, Maryland to Albert A. and Florence E. Isennock.
Elsie was employed at Bethlehem Steel Company in Baltimore, Maryland when she met her husband Earl through the USO in 1946. They married the following year at Fort Holabird, Maryland. During Earl’s military career Elsie was very active in military groups, youth activities, the United Methodist Church and The Boy Scouts of America while raising their four children in five countries. Upon retiring from the military in 1964, Earl & Elsie settled in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1985 they moved to Palm Bay, Florida where they enjoyed life for 22 years before relocating to Apex, North Carolina.
Elsie was very artistic and loved doing crafts, ceramics, cooking and gardening. Her true passion was their trips to Las Vegas. For over 20 years she enjoyed time spent with their “Vegas Family” staying at her beloved Flamingo Hilton!
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Albert and William, her great-grandson Taylor and her son-in-law John. Surviving are her loving husband of 68 years, MAJ Earl R. Winters Sr. (US Army, Retired), her children, Earl Jr. and Marsha, Eugene and Patricia, Deborah, Denyse and Louis, her grandchildren, David (Stephanie), Michael (Erika), Christopher (Beth), Kimberly (Bobby), Carlee (James), Jamie (Daryl), Nancy (Derek), sixteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sister-in-law Midge and June Isennock, many loving family members and friends and of course her granddog Thor.
Elsie’s family would like to thank Nisha Kotecha for her incredible care, compassion and love, Transitions Life Care, especially Tamica Smith-Onyemachi and Diana Bonawitz for taking such wonderful care of her for the past three months.
A celebration of Elsie’s life will be held at a later date with interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
