Oh James!!! I didn't know that you were gone for almost a month, I'm so sorry I was not there for you, your family and my dearly friend Caroline! I always found you like a smart and strong kid! I still remember all those nights that you helped me to close chipotle and your music when you were doing dishes!! Oh man I cannot believe you're not here anymore.  



I am so sorry for the tragic loss of Your Son. I mourn with you this Thanksgiving day. I was on flight 2683 from DFW to Raleigh Durham with our fallen hero James Patton. The American Airlines captain informed us we were carrying James Patton to his final resting place and home in North Carolina. The Captain told us the fire department was to our left as we  taxied toward the runway and would be spraying our plane with water canons in honor of United States Marine James Patton. We landed in NC the captain ask us to remain seated until the United States Marines on board and on the ground transferred Him. I was/am deeply moved witnessing all this. I pray The Holy Spirit comforts You in this tragedy.

My sincere condolences to the mother and family of this young man. I was a passenger on the American Airlines  plane arriving  at RDU airport yesterday.  My heart goes out to your family. You are in my prayers. 

I still remember like it was yesterday being in A school with you, in the dullest of moments you still managed to get someone to crack a smile, you will be dearly missed.

Pat was a motivated and dedicated individual with a drive to do his best wherever he went. You will be missed big man, rest easy.



There were many stories of patton i could tell. He was truely one of my best friends. We had so many plans to do once we got out of the marines, now i must do them in his honor, instead of with him. My favorite memory was when we went to the 17th door haunted house. Me and him were messing with all the workers there. There was one room where whoever you picked got shocked, and i picked him every time. I thought it was so funny to see him shake and scream. He made fun of me when i involuntarily screamed for help when i thought i was gonna drown in that house. We were all soaking wet. Patton was like a brother to me. And when i climb that mountain and i pour one out for him at the top, i know he will be with me.

Pat, you were such a bright light for this world; everywhere you went, your presence was known. You had such a massive influence everywhere you went and on everyone you met. I didn’t know you for too long, but for the time I did I am grateful for. Thank you for being such a great friend to me; I wish I could’ve been there for you more over the past few months. I hope you’re at peace now. Love you, pat. See you soon.

Blessings for Comfort and Peace as You Continue to Be Strengthened by Faith and Belief ~ Knowing that The Lord God IS Always Caring for You.  For his dedication and service, Eagle Scout/Lance Corporal James R Patton will be remembered by Comrades and Friends, his works are not in vain.

So sorry for your loss and the loss to the world.  Stay strong, rely on family and friends.  They will help you to adapt to your new world order.  Consume and cherish all the memories.  Hugs to you and all of your family. 

May the prayers and heartfelt condolences of those around you and who have recalled the one you lost comfort you, your family and friends in this time of unfathomable loss.

I did not personally know James.  However, I know the quality of the Eagle Scouts who have passed through our program and of those who have further earned the title Marine.  In both respects it shows that he was a man of character and strong determination.

My heart is broken for you and your family. The love a mother has for a child is like no other. You must have been so proud of the man  James had become. My thoughts and prayers are continually with you and your family. 


There are so many memories with James that I could write about, like how we would have nerf wars everytime I was at his house as kids, or how we would talk about Mac Miller and so many other artists when he did dishes at chipotle, or how whenever we were put on line or take-out together he would call us “the dream team” and praise my burrito rolling skills (lol),
But one in particular I will always remember: my family always hosted the annual church super bowl party, and one year James and I were upstairs playing minecraft together. It started off as a prank war (my idea) but it ended up in us trying to cover as much of the world as we could in TNT (his idea). We ended up crashing the entire world and both of our PCs. But even in small moments like this one James was always looking for a challenge, and always having so much fun with it. The next few years after that we continued the tradition of blowing up a world in minecraft at our super bowl party, and it’s probably my favorite memory with him. I know wherever he is right now he has a smile on his face.

My mans was gone too soon. You’re the reason why my life is going in a path that I never thought I’ll see it go, but it’s for the better. You accomplished more then most people ever will and for that you have my respect always. Not only are you an example to your loved ones but also to me. We didn’t know each other for too long but we connected faster then the majority of my friendships. We had the same mentality. We wanted to be the best, I mean we did join the marines for gods sake. We’re the least funded but we make the most of it. CAUSE THATS WHAT WE JUST DO. But you for real will be missed. Once a marine always a marine. May you Rest In Peace brother.

Our deepest condolences for the entire Patton family.  You are in our thoughts and prayers during this terribly sad time.

I remember James and our “Sons of Light” Y-Guides tribe most of all the three tribes I was involved with.  Greatest group of kids (and dads) and I think of you all often.

James and I had a few classes together in high school, and ended up working together at Chipotle as well. We bonded over rap music,  sneakers, and he was always respectful of everyone. I’ll never forget all the times we would jam out in the dish pit together. The last time I spoke to him, I told him I was proud of him for becoming a Marine, and he told me to stay up. That’s the type of person James was. He was always respectful, caring, and wanted everyone to succeed. The world could use a little more of James. Rest easy brotha. 

I am James's step grandfather, married to his dearly loved grandmother, Lynn Patton. I am Alan Morris and will miss James dearly. He was always available to help me and his grandmother with pulling weeds, raking leaves, and whatever else I needed help with.  I remember his graduation and induction into the Marines. It was one of his proudest moments . I shall always remember him most fondly for his good nature and accomplishments. Rest in peace, dear James. I so wish you would have had more time with us.

James was always a good friend to me and he would never hesitate to drop what he was doing for others. I regret that I cannot attend his service but I am sending my thoughts and prayers for James, his family, and friends. He will be missed by many🤍

My fondest memory of James is how excited my son, Bennett, always was to see his dear, childhood friend. I can still hear a young Bennett exclaiming "JAMES!!!" when he first saw him whenever they got together.
