

Macon was born in Raleigh, May 15, 1947, son of the late Jeter and Hazel Williams. He was preceded in death by his sisters Katy Jo Williams, Wanda W. Sorrell and nephew Charles Lambert.
He graduated from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) in Wilson in 1969 with a degree in Business Administration and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was a tobacco farmer from 1970-1997. He then formed his own business, J. M. Williams Timber Company, and enjoyed working in the woods and cruising timber until his numerous health issues forced him to retire in 2010. He loved working outdoors and being close to nature, fishing at the beach, Boston Red Sox baseball, hunting deer and birds and most of all being with his family and friends.
Macon is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eliza Currin Williams; daughter: Dawn McQueen of Apex and fiancé Will Staley; son: Jimmy Williams and wife, Kelsey; stepson: Jacob Goodwin, all of Apex; sisters: Mackie W. Lambert of Apex, Lorraine W. Kane and husband, John of Cary, Nancy W. Britt of Apex; nephews: Matthew (Anita) and Stephen Lambert(Brandy) of Apex, one great-niece and three great-nephews, and brother-in-law, Sam B. Currin and wife, Bettye of Oxford.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Apex Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 am in Green Level Baptist Church, Cary, NC. Internment immediately following the service at Green Level Baptist Church Cemetery.
