

Jim served in the Korean War. After service, he worked for the News and Observer for 25 years. He also owned his own company, Specialty Printing Company, Inc. which he later sold and went to work for the federal government, from which he retired.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Raleigh Golf Association and could be found there every Tuesday and Friday along with his Stockholder friends.
He was also a bee keeper of 50 colonies of honey bees. He loved his music and played his harmonica throughout Germany for the troops in Special Services. He also played for his church, which he dearly loved, where he was a former Deacon, Yoke-Fellow, and Usher.
Jim was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Clark Woodall; son, Mike Woodall of Moncure, NC; daughter, Kimberly Ann Alkire and husband Richard of Port St. Lucie, FL; granddaughter, Brittany Ann Alkire of Alexandria, VA; sisters, Evelyn Cabiness and husband Robert of Greensboro, NC and Annette Looper of Raleigh, NC.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 23rd from 7-9pm at Apex Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 24th at 1pm at Apex Baptist Church with burial immediately following at Apex Cemetery.
