

Jerry Michael “Mike” Pleasant, 61, passed away in the comfort of his home on Thursday morning and was gloriously promoted to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, April 16, 2015. Born on July 19, 1953 in Yanceyville, NC; he was the son of John Miller and Mabel Bradner Pleasant, of Purley, NC.
Mike began his career in air quality in 1973 as a sub-contractor with EPA until 1995. He owned and operated JMP Homes until 2004 when he returned to air quality as an engineer with NC DENR.
He loved his Lord and Savior; spending quiet time with his Lord each morning. He was a fond and faithful member of Mid-Way Baptist and the choir. He knew through this time as he fought cancer that God had a plan and a purpose for his life and the life of his beloved family. He knew that God was in control and faithfully stood on the verse chosen for the foundation of his marriage: Proverbs 3:5-6.
He enjoyed being from Purley and had such fond memories and great stories to tell of his childhood. He grew up loving football and was an avid football fan. He coached school sports at Apex High School and Athens Drive High School. He was also an avid professional sports fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Red Sox. He loved his family and children; His children brought him the greatest joy. He loved his children dearly and loved spending time with them.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents, John Miller and Mabel Bradner Pleasant; by his wife of 19 years: Karin Elizabeth Smith Pleasant; their children: Lindsey, Kelsey and John Michael, of the home; brother: Dan Pleasant and wife Barbara, of Danville, VA; and other family and friends, especially those that have given such special care to Mike and his family during his fight.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 11-1 pm at Mid-Way Baptist Church, with Celebration of Life Services to begin at 1 PM. Graveside Services will be held Saturday at 4 PM at Purley United Methodist Church Cemetery, with family to receive friends following in the church fellowship hall.
