Joan Marie Monahan

Joan was born April 16, 1925 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Lawrence and Josephine Heideman Delaney. She was a graduate of Dutchess County Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Joan was employed with AT&T retiring with over 31 years of service. She was an avid reader, very politically opinionated and extremely devoted to her family and her faith.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James H. Monahan; son, James Patrick Monahan; we also wish to mention her beloved Yorkie, Peanuts.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Kelly and husband, Terry of Apex.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10am Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Rd, Apex, NC 27502. The family will receive friends 9am-9:45am prior to the service.

We the family wish to thank the nurses and staff of Transition Lifecare Hospice and also our deepest appreciation for her personal caregiver, Esther Boduo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Transitions Lifecare Hospice of Wake County and the SPCA of Wake County.
