Joan Louise Sandhofer

Joan Louise Sandhofer, 86, of Apex, NC, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2025, at Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cary, NC. She was born on July 5, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Joseph Thieser and Rose Hochdoerfer Thieser.

A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Joan dedicated her life to caring for her family and raising her four sons.

She was known for her meticulous attention to detail in her home—nothing was ever out of place.

An excellent cook in her earlier years, she took great joy in preparing meals for her loved ones. Joan also found comfort in the quiet of home life and enjoyed reading catalogs.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. A devoted Catholic and member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, she recited the rosary daily and generously supported numerous charities.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Charles “Charlie” Edward Sandhofer of Apex, NC; her four sons: Joseph “Joe” Sandhofer and wife Julie of San Diego; Jeffrey “Jeff” Sandhofer and wife Lisa of Apex, NC; James “Jim” Sandhofer and wife Rachel of Pickerington, OH; and John Sandhofer of Richmond, VA.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Cole, Devin, Jessie, Jack, John, Lottie, Zachary, Elizabeth, David, Mathew (deceased) and Grace. Additionally, she is survived by her stepbrother John Natz; and sisters Jean Davis of St. Louis, MO; and Judy Colvin and husband Jack of Sarasota, FL.

A Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 625 Magdala Pl., Apex, NC 27502.

Inurnment will immediately follow in the Columbarium of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.

A visitation will follow from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Orchard Villas Clubhouse, 1520 Orchard Villas Ave., Apex, NC 27502.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church at the above address.

Joan’s faith-filled life was an inspiration to all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace in the presence of the Lord.
