John Richard Hudson Sr.

John Richard Hudson, Sr., 86, passed away on January 7, 2015. Born on December 21, 1928 in Charlotte, NC; he was the son of the late Doctor Leroy Hudson and Geneva Bell Coveney Hudson and brother of the late Marguerite Anderson.

John served honorably in the US Army during both of the Asian and European Theaters. After his service he completed his education at Elon College playing on the Championship basketball team. He was a salesman throughout his career; however, he was an accomplished wildlife artist and in later years worked in the printing industry. John enjoyed all sports, especially NC State Basketball, taking his family on camping trips, and he was passionate about hunting, fly fishing and fly tying.

He is remembered by his three children: John Richard Hudson Jr. and fiancée Kathy Coppedge, of Raleigh, Christopher Lee Hudson and wife Jacqueline, of Apex, and Bonni Hannah and husband Gary, of Asheville; their mother, Gerry LeBrun, of Greensboro; grandchildren: Carson and Elliott Hannah and Savannah and Skyler Hudson; niece: Susan West and husband Dan, of McLeansville.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11 AM at Triangle Community Church in Apex, with family to receive friends following.
