

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 57 years Theresa, his children Angela and Alex, daughter-in-law Sharon, grandchildren Justin and Eric, his brother Brian, sister-in-laws Barbara Putney and Terry DeFrisco, and numerous wonderful nieces and nephews.
Jack, as he preferred, graduated from St. Johns University and served in the Marine reserves. Once married, he spent the majority of his life in Westchester County NY, where he enjoyed amateur acting with the Fenimore Players, tennis, poker Thursdays, trips to Hawaii, and traveling the world. He and his wife always enjoyed great company, a good Manhattan, fine dining, and tearing up the dance floor at weddings. He eventually relocated to NC to be near his grandsons.
Jack was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Anne Davenport and John A. Putney, Sr. He started his career at IBM in NYC where he made many friends and met his future wife. He spent the majority of his working career at TIAA/CREF, where he retired from as an executive vice president in 2001.
The family will hold a memorial service at 10:30am Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502. Doors will be open at 10:00 AM and family will receive friends and guests following the service with light refreshments. They would also like to thank everyone at Spring Arbor in Apex, NC for their kindness over the last year.
