Katherine "Kitty" grew up in an Army family, living in bases in the US and Germany before settling in Pensacola Florida for high school. She attended Emory University in Atlanta where she met her future husband Robert, married and was the loving mother of two sons. As they grew, she went to the University of Houston, and began a long career as a medical technologist. Kitty loved animals, especially horses and riding, travel to see family in Australia, gardening, music, and was an avid reader.
Katherine is survived by her loving husband of 58 years; her children Michael of Raleigh, and Steven and wife Catherine and granddaughter Stephanie of Sydney, Australia; brother Richard of Raleigh; brothers-in-law Clark and Christopher and wife Dorri; sister-in-law Bette Daigle; and niece Rubina Mavroeidi of Athens, Greece.
She was preceded in death by her sister Leonora and grandson Curtis.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 11th at 11am at the Apex Funeral Home, Apex NC.
