Kiyoko Nagashima Thornbrough, 87, of Fuquay Varina died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Mrs. Thornbrough was born in Tokyo, Japan on January 27, 1925. Mrs. Thornbrough and her husband, Shorty, owned and enjoyed their businesses for 20 years at Watson’s Flea market and several other markets.
She is survived by her son: Floyd Thornbrough and wife, Susan of Fuquay Varina; daughter: Jannette Pennington of Willow Springs, five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Verlon Albert “Shorty” Thornbrough.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 11:00 am Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 29, 2012 in the chapel of Apex Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.
