Laura Melissa Yost, 15, passed away on September 23, 2014. Born on September 5, 1999 in Waterloo, Iowa; she was the beloved daughter of Tim and Brenda Yost and cherished sister to Trevor, Kayla and Ryan. She is also survived by her grandfathers, Tom Yost and Craig Cairns, by her aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family and by her friends. Grandmothers Pam Cairns and Sharon Yost are with her in heaven now.
Laura was full of life. She loved to laugh and have fun and spend time with family, friends and the family dogs Chloe, Jake and Baxter. As an animal lover, she especially loved dogs and puppies. She came up with a saying: “ Life is better with a puppy and a milkshake”. She dreamed that when she was older, she would have 5 dogs, the first one would be her favorite breed, an Australian Shepherd. Laura was a good student, worked hard and cared about her grades. Laura was a sophomore at Panther Creek High School, an Honor Roll student and active on the high school soccer team (#8) and with CASL Soccer (#4). She grew to thoroughly enjoy the game of soccer and everything that goes with the game- her coaches, her teammates, the friendships, the competitive spirit, the physical exercise, the mental challenges, the desire to improve, the drive to not let the team down, the road trips and overnight stays.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 4-8 PM at Apex Funeral Home (550 W Williams Street), with a Funeral Mass to be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (804 High House Road in Cary).
